Bingo winner can keep her cash prize
London 's Court of Appeal has ruled that Tania Burnett who won £101,211 at a Gala Bingo club in Plymouth doesn't have to give friends, who were with her on the girls' night out a penny.
When Tania Burnett won the six figure bingo jackpot, it sparked a bitter legal row with close friends, Stacey Wilson and Abigail Stacey, who claimed they had agreed to share any winnings over £10 equally.
Miss Burnett's case was that, although they had "discussed" sharing their winnings, it was not something she wanted to do and no agreement was in place when they arrived at the bingo hall.
The Judge said that a "casual conversation" a week before the women played could not be legally binding. The judge added: "Miss Wilson and Miss Stacey's bare bones account of what they say was agreed scarcely stands as an agreement enforceable and binding in law."
